| Noise.fi is an independent webzine dedicated to fresh, up-and-coming music. The fundamental idea is to offer a means for smaller underground bands to get some media coverage. We do feature bigger names, partly in order to flesh out the content, and partly to attract a potential audience for the as-yet-unknown bands. There is no genre limitation to the music we write about, but we tend to stay clear of your basic mainstream pop.
The news and reviews make out the most central and popular sections of the website, but gig reports, interviews and articles all play an important part in the whole. The content of Noise.fi is created by writers who are in this for one thing only, the love of music.
The story in short
The first version of the webzine, called LetsMakeSomeNoise.com at this point, was launched in September 2001 with a goal of reaching 10.000 visitors a month. Version 1.0 was quite primitive, but apparently the site appealed to people, since the set goal was reached in little under a year. At it's conception, the website was run by only a handful of people.
Released in late 2002, version 2.0 saw some major technical developments and the site really got going. During the next two years LetsMakeSomeNoise.com established a firm foothold in the Finnish music media. In September 2004, version 3.0 was ready. The site design was improved and most significantly the domain name was shortened to Noise.fi.
And finally after five years of waiting, Noise v4.0 was released in Spetember 2009. This was a major change for us, moving to weekly based content and concentrating even more on the topical issues. As Noise.fi nears its 10th anniversary we get about 100 000 visitors a month
